notes Note contributed by Larry McBryde: Seated, left to right are Mrs.Ida Brittain Greenlaw Watson, Flora Webster McBryde (1879- 1959), Virginia Abbey Sweigard and Anna McBryde Davidson (1888-1948). Standing are Dr. Marshall T. Watson (1922-2009), Dr.John M. McBryde Jr. (1870-1956), Dr. John Wilbur Watson (!888-1962), Dr. Robert J. Watson (1920-2010), Charles Neil Watson (1924-2001). Notes: Mrs. Ida Brittain Greenlaw Watson was the second wife of Dr.John Wilbur Watson and they were married in 1948 until his death in 1962. Flora Webster McBryde was the wife of Dr.John M. McBryde,Jr. They were married in 1902 until his death in 1956. Virginia Abby Sweigard was the wife of Dr.Charles Neil McBryde (1872- 1962). He was the first to get his Masters degree from Va.Tech. in 1892. They were married in 1933 until his death in 1962. The three Watson sons, that were photographed, were the sons of Dr.John Wilbur Watson and Anna Davidson Watson (1893-1928). They were all born at Virginia Tech and all got their degrees from there (including a 4th son John). Anna Watson was the daughter of Anna McBryde Davidson. Dr.John Wilbur Watson chaired the chemistry department at Virginia Tech from 1925 until his retirement in 1958.
